Eating disorders can be serious medical illnesses, and they are often marked by severe disturbances to a person’s eating behaviours. Obsessions with food, body weight, and shape may be signs of an eating disorder. These disorders can affect a person’s physical and mental health; in some cases, they can be life-threatening. But eating disorders can be treated. It is important, as counsellors, that we recognise the signs and have a clear way of working with clients who present with a possible eating disorder. This training will give you some in-depth understanding of different nutritional groups and their importance for a healthy balance as well as causes of eating disturbances.
